General Considerations for the Knee

Knee injuries are common due to the large size and complexity of the knee. Most commonly injured are the soft tissue and cartilaginous structures, including ligaments and menisci. These injuries are best evaluated clinically or by MRI. Fractures are the next most common injury, occurring much more often than dislocations.
