Basic Excretory Urography (IVP) Protocol for Children < 12 years old

  1. Scout KUB - coned just lateral to the renal margins, inferior to symphysis pubis, and superior to renal upper poles.

  2. Administer contrast media, slow IV bolus, 1 cc per pound of patient weight.

  3. 3 minute radiograph coned to the kidneys.

  4. 10 minute KUB. Additional radiographs, including tomography and oblique views, may be warranted by patient presentation or observations as the urogram progresses.
