Neurofibroma

Clinical

·        Arise from Aurbach’s plexis in subserosa

·        Sites (in order of frequency) - jejunum, stomach, ileum, colon, mesentery

·        Usually single

·        Multiple small bowel neurofibromas occur in 25% of patients with von Recklinghausen’s disease (neurofibromatosis type I, autosomal dominant)

Radiological

·        Smooth, rounded, sessile or pedunculated masses

·        May ulcerate (target lesion)

·        Multiple neurofibromas - eccentrically aligned along one border (antimesenteric)
