Gastric Polyps

Gastric polyps are the most common benign gastric tumor with an incidence of 1.5-5%. They are typically solitary, but may be multiple or diffuse. Gastric classification is similar to other GI polyps:

1. Hyperplastic: most common; usually small in size and have no malignant potential

2. Adenomatous: tend to be larger and papillary in appearance. Are a malignant precursor.

3. Villous: rare; have greatest malignant potential.
