Midgut Volvulus - Radiographic Features

  • Dilated air-filled duodenal bubble

  • "Double bubble" sign: double bubble with a little bit of distal gas

  • Gas in bowel loops distal to obstructed duodenum

  • Small bowel obstruction

  • UGI: duodenojejunal junction lower than duodenal bubble and to the right of expected position; spiral course of midgut loops; duodenal fold thickening; malposition of cecum


    • Spiral course of small bowel.
