Objectives

  1. Identify the main diagnostic uses of CT pulmonary arteriography (CTPA).
  2. Develop an understanding of the pulmonary arterial anatomy in both 3D and axial presentations.
  3. Develop a simple technique for scanning a CTPA and a stepwise approach to interpretation.
  4. Be able to recognize the appearance of pulmonary embolus on CTPA.
  5. Learn the alternatives imaging modalities for detecting pulmonary emboli.
  6. Know the best imaging modality for detecting pulmonary emboli in pregnant women.
  7. Understand the basic technique used in obtaining a CT pulmonary angiogram.
  8. Understand the common pitfalls in reading CT pulmonary angiograms.
