    1)  How can ischemic cardiomyopathy be differentiated from dilated cardiomyopathy?

    1. The amount of ventricular dilation
    2. Pattern of delayed hyperenhancement
    3. Impaired wall thickening
    4. Changes in myocardial strain
    5. All of the above

Answer: B. Pattern of delayed hyperenhancement. Chronic infarcts have DHE that involve the subendocardium. Dilated cardiomyopathy can have DHE, but it is usually in the mid myocardium or subepicardium. The others choices can be seen in either ischemic or dilated cardiomyopathy.

    2)  Which of the following is never found in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy?

    1. Asymmetrical hypertrophy, worse in the septum
    2. Flow void on gradient echo imaging in the region of the left ventricular outflow tract
    3. Decreased velocity in the left ventricular outflow tract on VENC imaging
    4. Abnormal myocardial strain
    5. Mitral regurgitation

Answer: C. Decreased velocity in the LVOT on VENC imaging. The velocity in the LVOT may be normal or increased. When the LVOT velocity is increased, it is due to abnormal narrowing of the LVOT by septal hypertrophy.
