Spleen

Normal spleen

As a lymphoid organ, the spleen normally demonstrates diffuse homogenous activity greater than blood pool activity but usually below the level of intensity seen in the liver. Activity within the spleen can be uniformly increased in the setting of anemia-related secondary hematopoiesis or following treatment with granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF). As in other organs, any uptake clearly more focal or elevated in intensity compared to the remainder of the parenchyma should be considered suspicious.
