Gastric Web

A web is a thin, transverse band of mucosal thickening with a fibrovascular core which causes luminal narrowing or obstruction. Webs or rings (named dependent upon location) are most frequently formed in the esophagus, although a small percentage are seen in the stomach, most commonly in the antrum. An accompanying gastric ulcer may be present. The finding is often incidental, however patients may present with symptoms of obstruction if the web orifice is less than 1 cm.

Radiographic Findings:

• Usually located 1.5cm from the pylorus.

• Symmetric band of 2-3mm thickness traversing the antrum

• 'Double bulb" appearance

• Normal peristaltic activity
