Sacral Fracture

Sacral Fracture

  • A fracture that is commonly missed.
  • Vertical or transverse fracture is possible.
  • Sacral fractures occur alone or in conjunction with other injuries to the pelvis. Most commonly, both sacroiliac joints are disrupted, the pubic sumphysis is separated and the sacrum is fractured in a condition known as pelvic dislocation.
  • Radiographic views besides standard AP and/or the use of CT are often helpful in diagnosis.
