- Pathogenesis:
- May cause enlarged liver without focal
disease. Inflammation can progress to cirrhosis.
- Is a hereditary disease of copper
metabolism. Copper deposits in the liver, the cornea, and the brain
(especially the lenticular nucleus).
- Radiographic findings:
- CT: liver is hyperdense. CT findings
appear identical to those of hemochromatosis.
- MRI:
an increase in signal on T1-weighted images with a decrease on
T2-weighted images.
