Metastases

    The axial CT images above demonstrate multiple hypoenhancing lesions in the spleen consistent with metastatic CLL.

    Below are images of splenic metastasis visualized on US. Careful ultrasound examination can determine if these are cysts with increased through transmission of echoes versus solid metastatic lesions.

 

    Possible causes of the above finding include: metastatic disease, lymphoma, abscesses, multiple hematomas, splenic infarction, traumatic or congenital cysts. A biopsy of one of the lesions above (R) was performed and revealed a metastatic melanoma.
