Normal lymph node

 

Normal lymph nodes demonstrate very little FDG activity. In the setting of cancer, any activity in a lymph node which appears greater in intensity than bloodpool activity should be considered suspicious. Of course, as is always the case in PET imaging with FDG, increased activity is nonspecific and can represent malignancy or inflammation/infection.
